At ZG Construction, we believe that a great build starts with trust. Led by Zack Gardner, a licensed South Carolina Residential and Commercial Builder with over 25 years of hands-on experience, every project is guided by communication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. We work with clients across all budget ranges — from modest renovations to large-scale builds and commercial upfits — with the same goal: to make every client feel valued, inspired, informed, and confident in the process.
Each project is approached with an emphasis on healthy, efficient construction, using thoughtful building practices that support long-term performance and clean indoor air. Meet the Owner
Zack GARDNER
Founder & Lead General Contractor
Zack Gardner is a Licensed South Carolina Residential Builder and Commercial Builder, bringing more than two decades of hands-on experience and leadership to every project. Before relocating to South Carolina, he spent 24 years serving as a California Professional Fire Captain and working as a Licensed California General Contractor.
He also completed the South Carolina Home Inspector licensing exam—a certification he does not actively practice but continues to draw valuable insight from. Having built his own home from the ground up on a raw lot with no power, water, or utilities, Zack understands every phase of construction firsthand. That experience, combined with years of hard work and problem-solving in demanding environments, shaped his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
As both a builder and former fire captain, Zack brings a clear understanding of safety, structure, and efficiency to every project. His background in emergency response provided firsthand experience with how sound construction prevents accidents, improves safety, and protects the people who live and work in a space. That knowledge continues to guide his approach, where craftsmanship, honesty, and precision are the foundation of every job.
Zack’s experience across all areas of building allows him to manage each phase with confidence—from planning and coordination to the final finish. He values clear communication, close relationships with clients and trade partners, and a focus on keeping projects on time, on budget, and built to last.
